Two Ways to Train

Fusion offers an adaptive group class and one-on-one adaptive personal training.

Fit & Strong

Adaptive Group Fitness

A supportive group class focused on movement, exercise, strength, coordination, and staying active.

Current program frequency: Two classes per week.

Adaptive Personal Training

One-on-One Coaching

Individual sessions built around the participant's current abilities, comfort level, goals, and support needs.

What Does Adaptive Fitness Mean?

Adaptive fitness means the workout is not expected to look exactly the same for every person.

Exercises, equipment, pace, instructions, and coaching can be adjusted when appropriate.

One person may need more time to learn a movement.

Another may need a different exercise.

Someone else may do best with shorter instructions, more repetition, a quieter setup, or one-on-one coaching.

The goal is to create a training experience that fits the individual as well as possible.

The first step is talking with us about the participant and what support may be helpful.

Fit & Strong Adaptive Group Fitness

Fit & Strong is Fusion's adaptive group fitness class.

It gives participants a chance to exercise in a group while coaches provide support and modifications when appropriate.

Classes may include:

  • movement
  • strength exercises
  • light conditioning
  • coordination work
  • balance activities
  • simple circuits
  • bag work or fitness activities where appropriate
  • partner or group activities where appropriate

The exact class can vary based on the participants and the workout.

What Is the Goal of the Class?

The goal is to help participants stay active, practice movement, build exercise habits, and enjoy being part of a fitness environment.

Who May Be a Good Fit for Fit & Strong?

Every person is different.

Fit & Strong may be worth exploring for someone who:

  • enjoys being active in a group
  • benefits from extra coaching or repetition
  • wants a structured exercise routine
  • prefers a smaller or more supportive fitness environment
  • is looking for an inclusive group activity
  • can participate safely with the level of support available in class
The best way to know whether the class is a good fit is to contact us and talk through the participant's needs before starting.

What Happens in a Fit & Strong Class?

Classes are designed to be active but flexible.

A session may include:

  • simple warm-up movements
  • strength exercises
  • stations or circuits
  • coordination drills
  • bag work
  • movement games
  • core exercises
  • balance work
  • breaks when appropriate

Coaches can demonstrate movements, repeat instructions, and offer modifications where possible.

The goal is participation and appropriate challenge, not keeping up with everyone else.

Adaptive Personal Training

Some people do better with one-on-one coaching.

Adaptive personal training gives the coach more time to focus on one individual, adjust exercises, repeat instructions, change the pace, and build the session around that person's needs and goals.

Possible areas of focus may include:

  • general fitness
  • strength
  • conditioning
  • movement
  • coordination
  • balance
  • bag work
  • exercise routines
  • confidence using gym equipment
  • becoming more comfortable in a fitness environment

Training Built Around the Individual

There is no single "adaptive workout" that fits everyone.

Before starting, it helps us to know:

  • the participant's age
  • current activity level
  • communication needs
  • physical considerations
  • any support typically used during activities
  • likes and dislikes
  • goals
  • anything that may make the gym environment easier or harder

This information helps us decide whether group training, personal training, or another starting point makes the most sense.

Can a Parent or Caregiver Be Involved?

In some situations, parent or caregiver involvement may be helpful, especially when someone is new to the gym or needs support communicating routines and preferences.

The right level of involvement depends on the participant and the type of session.

Contact Fusion before the first visit so we can talk through what support may be appropriate.

No Gym Experience Needed

Participants do not need prior martial arts or fitness experience.

They do not need to already know how to use gym equipment.

The starting point can be simple.

The coach can introduce movements and exercises gradually based on what is appropriate for the individual.

Self-Directed Funding & Direct Billing

Fusion may be able to work with certain self-directed funding or direct-billing arrangements.

Because funding rules and authorizations vary, contact us with the program or funding arrangement you are using and we can discuss what information is needed.
